Overview
In support of Tragedy By Design's first album, For The Greater Good, I was commissioned to design the album's digipak and merch design. It was a real honor to support such a talented group of musicians and be a part of a project 5 years in the making.
Approach
Merch Design
Designing a graphic that would tie in and expand on the album cover was my main goal. Utilizing the distinct colors, rich texture, and the main motifs of the artwork, I imagined a small sub narrative that builds on the themes of the album with small panels detailing an alternate story.
Digipak Design
I took a similar approach here, echoing the colors and expanding on the direction of the cover art. I designed a consistent styling that I applied to the entire package— it's dark, vibrant, and harmonizes to create a cohesive whole.
On the inside of the package I designed a page with the dedications and some photos of the band. Fans have an extra opportunity to connect with the band and it gives the package a human touch.
Outcomes
The band loved the designs and had a fantastic release of the album. It's doing well on streaming platforms and the band is preparing for more shows in 2026.
