Overview

Since 2021 I’ve worked with author Dave Daren to design cover art and typography for many of his most successful legal thriller novels.

I’ve created original covers for his new series, some reaching the top 5,000 books on the kindle store, and designed on brand covers for his most prominent series.

Creative Direction

When creating cover art for Dave Darren I always focus on genre clarity first and then add layers that will distinguish the cover amongst its competition. I do this by focusing on impactful typography, building around genre defining imagery, creating visual drama and tension, and using flavorful elements of each story as hooks.

Even when designing something original or a cover for an established series, each cover has to capture the story inside, try something new, and build a style that’s distinct.

Results

• Designed the cover for Inadmissible which ranked in the top 5,000 books on the Kindle Store, and top 50 in legal thrillers.

• Designed book covers for Until Proven Guilty, Stark Justice, Advocate for the Sinner, and others ranked in the top 50,000 on the Kindle Store

• Designed covers and typography for multiple Dave Daren books that became series (Until Proven Guilty, The Investigator, Alaskan Legal, Inheriting Justice, & The Tax Man)

• Created book covers for top selling Dave Daren series (Mob Lawyer, Longhorn Law, JAG Lawyer, & John Stone Law)
